Eureka Springs Presents Annual Bluegrass Festival

 

Eureka Springs is rounding out the summer with another exciting event. This year's Annual Bluegrass Festival will be jam-packed with lively and talented musicians for three days on August 14-16.  

  

The Bluegrass Festival kicks off with a Watermelon Social in Basin Spring Park on Thursday at 7 p.m. presented by the Eureka Springs Downtown Network. This event is an open jam and everyone is invited to bring their instruments and join in. Free watermelon and water will be provided. 

 

On Friday and Saturday, there will be free music in the Basin Spring Park bandshell from noon-6 p.m.

 

The line-up is as follows:  

 

Friday: 

12 p.m. Davanzo Family

1 p.m. Clark Family

2 p.m. Eureka Springs Bluegrass Band

3 p.m. Donny Catron

4 p.m. Dragonmasters

5 p.m. Clancey Ferguson 

 

Saturday: 

12 p.m. Clark Family

1 p.m. Buffalo City Ramblers

2 p.m. Al Brumley & Friends

3 p.m. Mountain View Friends & Family

4 p.m. Dragonmasters

5 p.m. Davanzo Family 

 

This year, there will be two nights of shows beginning at 7 p.m. at The Auditorium at 32 S. Main Street. Friday night's performers include The Davanzo Family, Mountain View Friends & Family, Clancey Ferguson, Buffalo City Ramblers with Donny Catron, Dragonmasters, and headline act Melvin Goins with Retro & Smiling.  

 

Melvin Goins began his musical career in the mid-1950s when he joined the legendary Lonesome Pine Fiddlers. Since then, he has worked with a number of notable bluegrass musicians, including Paul Williams, Bobby Osborne and The Stanley Brothers. His greatest contribution to the bluegrass scene came from his stint with his younger brother Ray as The Goin Brothers. Today, the iconic performer continues to delight audiences with his exciting performances. 

 

Saturday night's performers includes Al Brumley Jr. & Friends, Clark Family with Bill Nesbitt, Tim Crouch & Friends, Pam Setser & Mountain View Friends featuring Clancey Ferguson, Buffalo City Ramblers featuring Donny Catron, Retro & Smiling, and headline act Karl Shiflett and Big Country Show.  

 

Karl Shiflett & Big Country Show deliver authentic bluegrass and classic country music in a highly entertaining and exciting way. Officially established in 1993, the band started out slowly and didn't gain national recognition until they signed with a record label in 1999. The Texas-based group gained instant recognition with the song "Where the smoke goes up (and the money goes down)." Karl Shiflett & Big Country Show have a unique sound unlike any other and always deliver a great show. 

 

Tickets to The Auditorium shows are $20 for adults and $12 for children ages 16 and under. Buy tickets for both nights for $35 for adults and $20 for children.   Also on Saturday, August 16 at the Rodeway Inn Chalet at 2015 East Van Buren, Melvin Goins tells stories from his life on the road at 9 a.m. Admission is free.   For more information about the Annual Bluegrass Festival, visit www.eurekasprings.org.

Happy July 4th Everyone!

For those of you wishing to partake in Eureka Springs July 4th celebration here is what is happening:

On July 4th 2014:
The annual July 4th family celebration in Basin Park is from 3pm-5pm and includes games, music and more! A parade will begin downtown Eureka Springs at 2pm and drumming in Park will be from 6pm-8pm at Basin Park

Fireworks will begin at dusk at Turpentine Creek ! 

At Holiday Island, festivities will be all day beginning at 2pm with vendor booths and live music , lawn games, food and more  at the recreation center. There will be a veterans tribute at 3pm followed by a pulled pork dinner at the Barn. Traditional cook out cuisine ( hot dogs, hamburgers  chips snacks and drinks ) will all be available for purchase. The Ariels perform live at 5:50pm-8:30pm followed by fireworks ! Sometimes it just takes two.....

Another fabulous and elegant wedding recently at Red Bud Manor !   Brenda and Kip came to us - just the two of them- for their wedding weekend week before last!

A Great Weekend in Eureka!

Many things going on this weekend here ( June 13-15 2014) !

Gallery stroll June 14th: Galleries will be open from 6pm-9pm with special exhibits, and artists receptions.

Blues Weekend: An annual event in Eureka Springs, local ,regional and national blues acts will be here all weekend with headliners grammy winner Chubby Carrier and the bayou swamp band, Walter " Wolfman" Washington and the Roadmasters and Carolyn Wonderland.  For ticket information: www.eurekaspringsblues.com.  Free music at Basin Park beginning Friday at 12noon including a Kids Drumming contest Saturday !

Happy Fathers Day !  Treat Dad to the blues then head over to Turpentine Creek Sunday from 1pm - 6pm for food, music and fun for kids and adults all for only $5! Kids under 6 free !

Spring is here !

April Showers bring May flowers- so true at Red Bud Manor !  Our flowers are popping out all around the house !  Beautiful !

We love our bike Clubs !  Attached is a photo of a group that booked all our rooms and traveled together to Eureka Springs 2 weekends ago. What a bunch of fun we had with them !  They came as strangers and left as part of our family as all our guests do !!! 

I also had some repeat guests this past weekend. Surprise ! They got married and waited to tell me until they arrived for their honeymoon with us !  Congratulations Nicholas and Heather- another couple that is part of the Red Bud Manor Inn family.
